Experimental Results of a Small Water-Augmented Air-Jet.

Abstract

Experimental results from a small static water-augmented air-jet (46 gas horsepower maximum) are presented and correlated with theory. The data consists of thrust measurements as a function of mass-flow ratio for three spray station configurations and two pressure ratios. A model of liquid particle shattering is introduced, added to the theory, and its effect on the data correlation is discussed. The similarities between this static experiment and a ship installation are also discussed. (Author)
