Diode Control Research.

Abstract

Mathematical and graphical techniques were developed for specifying the stabistor diode area and the heat sink thermal resistance for a given application. Stabistor diode applications include charge control and voltage limiting of secondary cells. Stabistor diodes were shown to be stable, reliable, predictable, and capable of long life under both steady heating thermal cycling. A method of quickly evaluating cells for use in stabistor-diode controlled batteries capable of high-rate (greater than C/2) charge was developed. (Author)
