Service Test of Training Device for Antitank Rocket, 66-MM, M72E1 (LAW).

Abstract

The Service Test of the Training Device for Antitank Rocket, 66-mm, M72A1 (LAW), was conducted. The objective of the test was to determine the suitability of the LAW trainer and projectiles for US Army use. All testing was conducted under field conditions similar to those which the LAW Training Device might be expected to encounter. One shortcoming was found. This shortcoming was the lack of repair parts in the maintenance package. The US Army Infantry Board concluded that the LAW trainer is safe and suitable as a training device for the M72A1 LAW. The US Army Infantry Board recommended that the Small Development Requirement that the Training Device for the M72E1 LAW require no maintenance other than normal care and cleaning be waived, and an installation kit be issued with each LAW trainer.
