Testing of Titanium Sideplates for Bru-4/A Bomb Rack.

Abstract

A BRU-4/A Bomb Rack with substitute titanium sideplates was tested to destruction to determine its ability to sustain specified F-111/600 gallon fuel tank loads. This rack modification proved to be adequate to sustain those loads for which it was specifically intended. The 14-inch shackles, however, had not yet been retrofitted to BRU-4/A specifications and, consequently, failed during the test. (Author)
