Evaluation of the Bulldozer Kit M113A1.

Abstract

The M113A1 Bulldozer Kit is a 104-inch wide by 30-inch high aluminum blade mounted on the M113A1 APC. The blade is filled with monocellular polyurethane foam to provide buoyancy, and a replaceable steel cutting edge is bolted onto the blade. The blade has a vertical travel of 25 inches above the ground and is moved vertically by hydraulic cylinders pinned to the carrier hull. The M113A1 Bulldozer Kit was employed in the Delta area of RVN. It was used to remove paddy kikes, improve water crossing entrances and exits, and perform general pioneer work. The evaluation determined that the Bulldozer Kit is sound and the blade performed satisfactorily.
