Advanced Design Battery Power Source for Aircrew Survival Transceivers and Beacons.

Abstract

The objective of this effort is to provide an advanced battery power source for future survival transceivers and beacons carried by aircrew members as emergency equipment. The work carried out so far involved the screening of different couples with a view towards recommendation and final selection of a couple by the Air Force Aero Propulsion Laboratory. Lithium-cadmium fluoride, lithium-silver sulfide, and lithium-zinc fluoride couples were screened and the results are presented in this report along with a recommendation of a couple suitable for prototype battery fabrication and testing.
