Production and Corrosion Protection of Bearings. Part II. Examination of Corrosion Inhibitors,

Abstract

The authors examined the effect of the sodium nitrite anodic inhibitor, used in certain operations in the production of bearings, on the corrosion of bearing steel. Use was made of a model for the study of sodium nitrate upon the anodic solution of the bearing steel and of the optimal concentration to be used. Investigation of the trietanolammoniumphosphate inhibitor demonstrated that although the results were satisfactory, they did not equal those of sodium nitrite. (Author)
