Measuring Human Footstep Forces.

Abstract

A system capable of measuring the force signature of a footstep was designed, developed and tested by the Ammunition Engineering Directorate's Technical Services Laboratory. The system is based on a six-component force stand designed to measure: the vertical force, the horizontal force and aft force, the horizontal side-to-side force, and the moment about the vertical axis. The system may be used with subjects weighing from 10 to 300 lbs. Data is presented in digital form and as plotted curves and graphs. Photographs and drawings are included to show the test arrangement, equipment design and foot motion. (Author)
