Preliminary Range Tables for the Angled Arrow Projectile - Spherical Coordinates,
Abstract
This report contains spherical-coordinate primary-ballistic range tables for the 4 1/2 in./36 in. four-fin Angled Arrow Projectile. No secondary ballistic data or data on deflected trajectories are included. The tables were prepared for use in design of primary ballistic cams for the Computer Mk X96. The tables were prepared using the IBM Card Programmed Calculator to interpolate rectilinear range tables contained in NAVORD Report 2160. These tables were based on predicted missile parameters and were to have been revised when the missile design was completed. Termination of missile development has left such a revision in doubt. Recent drag data on the AAP missile indicates that the times of flight in this report are high, especially at extreme ranges where an inaccurate drag coefficient function was used in computation of the tables.
