Study of Design Procedures and Limitations for Monopulse Scalar Feeds.

Abstract

The report covers the second phase of an investigation into the feasibility of using the Scalar Feed for two- and four-horn monopulse applications. Design criteria were established for feeds requiring F/D in the range of 0.75 - 1.0 and over the frequency band 8.75 - 11.75 GHz. Through a combination of theoretical and experimental work, several new discoveries were made concerning effect on performance of various design parameters, and the applicability of theoretical approaches to Scalar Feed design. Two breadboard feeds were built and tested with both two- and four-horn exciters, in order to verify the findings made during the study phase. (Author)
