Research on Dielectrics in Wales,

Abstract

At various laboratories in Wales, measurements are being made of the very-far infrared absorption of gases and liquids in order to study intermolecular forces and extend the knowledge obtained by dielectric measurements with centimeter and millimeter waves. Dielectric measurements with microwaves in several charge-transfer complexes have thus far indicated weak intermolecular attraction, but no actual charge transfer. The dielectric absorption regions in polymers are being investigated theoretically and by dielectric constant and loss measurements at low frequencies over a wide range of temperature and pressure.
