Phase Distortion of an Explosion Pulse Associated with Refraction by a Strong Gradient.

Abstract

In June - July 1963 a series of sound propagation experiments were carried out in deep water a few miles southeast of the Island of Rhodes. The principal objective in these trials was to study the effect of random inhomogeneities in the ocean on the coherence of sound propagation both in space and time; in particular the coherence of the convergence zone propagation was examined in detail.
