Sediments of the Northern Arabian Sea.

Abstract

The report contains a discussion of temperature, salinity, and bottom sediment data collected during USS REQUISITE oceanographic survey in northern Arabian Sea during February and March 1961. The regional setting and the marine environment of the area are presented; field and laboratory sediment analyses procedures are explained; and figures showing the distribution of median grain size, clay mineral provinces, and percentages of calcium carbonate, organic carbon, and quartz in sand-size fraction are included. Heavy mineralogy of several sediment samples are given in tables. (Author)
