Initial Production Test of Generating and Charging Plant, Oxygen and Nitrogen.

Abstract

Liquid oxygen was produced 4 3/4 hours after initial startup of the plant, thus meeting the requirement that elapsed time to start up should not exceed 5 hours. The plant passed the purity test, but produced only 71.5 lb/hr. All of the requirements for gaseous oxygen production and liquid nitrogen production were met. The plant initially was unable to produce gaseous nitrogen at the required purity of 99.5 percent. The actual purity was 99.3 percent.
