Vacuum Shaving and Massaging Device for Manned Space Flight.

Abstract

The instrument described was designed and developed primarily for the astronaut Personal Hygiene Program aboard currently programmed manned spacecraft. The instrument is a vacuum shaving and scalp massaging device which removes unwanted beard growth, loose scalp particles, and dry skin flakes. These particles are collected into a filter compartment for safekeeping, which prevents their floating around the spacecraft cabin in a weightless environment. The efficiency of the instrument has been evaluated, and test results are presented. (Author)
