Puff Rezone Development.

Abstract

The PUFF code has been generalized so that mesh points tend to move automatically to provide fine definition in regions of relatively violent activity. A precise measure of activity is given, based on the velocity field computer by the code. An essential part of the activity calculation is a procedure for generating algebraic fits to discrete velocity fields, so that with few exceptions the fits vary continuously both in space and time. The moving coordinate system defined by the activity measure is not Lagrangian, and transport terms have therefore been added to PUFF to account for not Lagrangian, and transport terms have therefore been added to PUFF to account for mass flow across coordinate surfaces. The basic PUFF equations expressing mass and momentum conservation, and the first law of thermodynamics are presented in their extended form, and their exact total energy conservation property is discussed in detail.
