An Application of Holographic Interferometry to the Study of Transient Phenomena of Rolling-Contact Bearings.

Abstract

Some means of studying transient phenomena of rolling-contact bearings has been needed, especially where undisturbed conditions are desirable. It is shown that double pulse holography can be used to determine the topography of elastic deformations of the outer ring of a free ball bearing. The technique is also useful in determining symmetry of loading and misalignment of ball bearings. (Author)
