Nuclear Materials Sensor. Volume I. Experimental Program (Development of Neutron-Gamma Sensor Instrumentation Package).

Abstract

The second phase of the Nuclear Sensor program, May 1967 through March 1969, was devoted to the development of an instrumentation system which has been launched into earth orbit as part of the OV1-18 satellite system. Details of the activities leading to the development of the Neutron-Gamma Sensor system are provided. Also provided is a complete description of the experiment to be performed in orbit, the Neutron-Gamma Sensor satellite instrumentation package (including all necessary auxiliary systems), and the integration of the sensor package with the OV1-18 satellite. The Neutron-Gamma Sensor system was launched into orbit as part of OV1-18, March 17, 1969. Preliminary data returned indicate that the system is operating successfully. (Author)
