Prediction of Short-Term Critical Collapse Pressure of Syntactic Foam Under Hydrostatic Pressure,

Abstract

An equation is derived for predicting critical hydrostatic collapse pressure of a syntactic foam having epoxy-bonded glass microspheres. The equation is an empirical correlation between foam bulk modulus and collapse pressure. The bulk modulus is derived analytically. Agreement between the predicted hydrostatic collapse pressure and the experimental collapse pressure is considered good. (Author)
