Real Time Single Lens Coherent Optical Correlator.
Abstract
The characteristics of a single lens coherent optical correlator which processes signals in real-time were studied to determine the applicability of the system to analyze and classify radar return signals. It has been shown that the system has the capability of identifying pseudorandom binary codes using only one channel. The optical efficiency of a single correlation frequency was 0.11 percent using a Ronchi ruled grating as the reference carrier signal for the reference mask and an acoustic grating in a Debye-Sears modulator to convert the input signal from electrical to acoustic to optical form.
