An Inflatable Porpoise Pen.
Abstract
A highly portable porpoise holding pen was designed and tested. Circular superimposed inflatable tubes, 18 feet in diameter, support a hanging net enclosure with a 4- by 5-foot steel entrance gate. When packed, the pen assembly can be carried by two men. The unit will inflate to full size within 30 seconds. Successful deployment tests were conducted from workboats, a boat dock, and a helicopter. (Author)
