X-Band Pin Diode Phase Shifter.

Abstract

The development of a new high-power diode phase shifter in microstrip is described, incorporating novel transitions from WR-90 waveguide to the microstrip circuit. The model constructed is a digital, four-bit transmission device capable of providing 337.5 deg of phase shift in 22.5 deg steps over a five percent bandwidth at X-band. It features a 2 dB loss with less than 3 deg RMS phase error. Tests and calculations show that with available diodes the circuit is capable of handling peak powers up to 10 kilowatts. (Author)
