Research and Development of Microwave Tubes and Devices.

Abstract

The objective of the project is to advance the state of the art in the field of high-power subnanosecond-risetime amplifying and switching devices. This objective will be carried out by applicable experimental work from predictions based on fundamental device theory and confirmed, to the best extent possible, with available resources. The state of the art for fast, high-power, active devices was established by the electron beam - pn junction amplifier with the realization of a device capable of switching 1 kW with a risetime of 0.4 nanoseconds.
