Parametric Design/Cost Effectiveness (PDCE) Study on Advanced Forward Area Air Defense Systems (AFAADS) Gun Systems. Volume IV.1. Engineering Models (Continued).

Abstract

The six volumes of this report describe the methodologies developed for and the results of a parametric design/cost effectiveness (PDCE) STUDY FOR ADVANCED FORWARD AREA AIR DEFENSE SYSTEMS (AFAADS) gun systems. Volume I is an executive summary which briefly describes the analysis and summarizes the results. Volume II contains detailed descriptions of the technology, cost, and effectiveness evaluations, and Parametric analyses performed during the study. Annexes to this volume contain detailed cost and effectiveness results. Volume III contains the mathematical formulations for two air-defense effectiveness models (a Monte Carlo simulation and an analytic model) and a model to evaluate the ground fire capabilities of air defense systems. Volume IV presents the technological models developed and employed in the study to predict sensor, fire control, accuracy, vulnerability, reliability, and mobility capabilities of the concept systems. Volume V describes the cost prediction models. Volume VI is a programmer's manual for the Monte Carlo air defense simulation. (Author)
