Abstract

Life crises as an important inventory of experience for diagnostic and prognostic studies have been studied initially at the University of Washington and now as one of the programs of the USN Medical Neuropsychiatric Research Unit, San Diego, with both civilian and military population samples. A similar interest and program of research has been going on at Bedford College, London, and Institute of Psychiatry, University of London. These studies have been with hospitalized schizophrenic and depressed patient samples, and more recently with a large community sample of women; the studies are reviewed. (Author)
