The Thermal and Catalytic Decomposition of Ammonia and Hydrazine.

Abstract

The present report deals with the thermal and catalytic decomposition of ammonia and hydrazine. Two catalysts, Shell 405 and the one developed at the U. S. Army Missile Command, were investigated. Since ammonia is a major decomposition product of hydrazine, it was necessary to investigate the thermal and catalytic behavior of NH3 before a proper interpretation of the N2H4 degradation could be attempted.
