An Automatic Data Processing System for a Physical Testing Laboratory.

Abstract

Significant improvements in data acquisition and reduction for mechanical properties tests of solid propellants and binders have been accomplished by means of an automated data processing system. The automatic system enables the demands of a steadily increasing workload to be met more efficiently, reduces the possibilities for human error, and extracts more infromation from test data than was previously feasible by manual methods. The system automatically samples and records data from test instrumentation, computes pertinent results, and outputs the informationin a directly usable form immediately upon completion of a test. The various components in the system, the features of the operating program, the present capabilities of the system and the ppossibilities for future expansion are discussed in detail.
