Aerodynamic Characteristics of the 152mm Ammunitions XM409E5, XM411E3, XM411E4 and XM657E2 at Small Yaw.

Abstract

Exterior ballistic tests of four 152mm munitions were conducted to determine the aerodynamic properties of the projectiles. The XM409E5, XM411E3, XM411E4 and XM657E2 shells were fired from an XM81E12 launcher with a twist of one turn in 41.2 calibers. The static and dynamic aerodynamic properties of the shells determined at small yaw levels over a Mach number range of 0.6 to 1.9 are presented and discussed. (Author)
