Investigation of Techniques of Three-Dimensional Finite Element Stress Analysis.

Abstract

Some preliminary subjects necessary for the development of a three-dimensional stress analysis computer program are investigated. Included are (1) the development of a three-dimensional finite element, (2) study of element configuration effects, (3) comparison of storage requirements and computing times for three equation-solving techniques, and (4) a discussion of the use of automatic plotters for output. A specialized three-dimensional program was written for checks of accuracy and computing time. (Author)
