LM1500 Engine Marinization Contract. Phase II. Design Study Report.
Abstract
This engineering report has been prepared to present the results of various LM1500 power plant component design studies in accordance with the requirements of Phase II of the Marinization Program as described in BuShips contract No. 88423. This report describes the design changes being made on the Phase II J79-8 gas generator for the Phase III 500-hour simulated marine atmosphere engine endurance test. In addition, possible future changes are described which experience may show to be necessary to attain the 5000-hour TBO contract objective. (Author)
