An Evaluation of the Cadillac Gage S/N-1000 Two Axis Stabilized Cupola Gun Mount.

Abstract

An evaluation was made of a two-axis stabilized cupola machine gun mount with a multiple rate of fire capability. The effect of stabilization and varying rates of fire upon performance was investigated. Stabilization and ability to vary rate of fire allowed the gunner to optimize performance for a given range to the target. The stabilization system offers the greatest advantage to applications where versatility is required with respect to varied ranges and wave conditions. Various unique features of the gun mount were considered and investigated with respect to desirability. (Author)
