Annual Progress Report, FY 1969.

Abstract

This report is a compilation of work unit summaries of the investigative efforts of Fiscal Year 1969 at Letterman Army Institute of Research. These work units are devoted to a basic and applied research in skin diseases of military importance; the effects of hemorrhagic shock on the lungs, heart and brain; the development of techniques for the early management of complex maxillofacial wounds and injuries; ways to prevent oral disease, to develop means to minimize morbidity rates from emergencies, to identify diseases of the oral and maxillofacial tissues which are of special importance to the field soldier and to obtain basic information on these problems. Included also are summaries of work units of research performed by personnel of Letterman General Hospital and Class I installations of the Sixth U. S. Army in problems which do not necessarily have military significance, but which have led to investigative studies that are a part of good medical training and practice and fulfill the mission of LAIR.
