Portable Decontamination Unit.

Abstract

A portable decontamination unit was fabricated after completion of a study program to determine the system design, configuration, selection of available components and suitability of materials. The system was designed to be lightweight, compact, easily transportable, and simple to operate. Components were selected on the basis of their availability (to preclude costly development programs) and proven performance in similar fluid systems applications. Materials were considered for use in the unit on the basis of manufacturer's data and recommendations. Samples of several materials were subjected to laboratory tests to determine their compatibility with some of the specified fluids. The materials which were verified compatible by these tests were used in fabricating the unit. Additional tests were then conducted to determine an optimum design approach. (Author)
