Hydrogen-Impregnated Glass Covers for Hardened Solar Cells.

Abstract

The report summarizes the entire development program conducted by Tem-Pres Research/Carborundum which experimentally demonstrated that hydrogen impregnation will significantly reduce darkening of solar cell glass covers under solar, nuclear, and van Allen Belt radiation conditions, and that this technique can be practically applied to hardened solar cell arrays on future orbital vehicles.
