An Automated Planning Technique for the Optimization of Airlift Mission Route Selection.

Abstract

Automated planning techniques can be of importance to efficient scheduling and deployment of aircraft in the tactical airlift environment. The context selected in the study -- the scheduling process of the Airlift Control Center (ALCC) -- represents a complex and dynamic current-day environment. A dynamic programming algorithm was developed which permits missions to be scheduled efficiently against a wide range of predetermined criteria. Real-time computer application will allow the user to input his insights and judgment, thus influencing the algorithmic process and creating a man/machine planning system. (Author)
