Low-Noise Solid-State R-F Amplifiers for the AN/ARR-52A Receiver.

Abstract

It is required to design, fabricate and evaluate a high sensitivity, high selectivity R-F amplifier that will increase the present range of the AN/ARR-52A receiver to 100 mi. Solid state bipolar preamplifiers and MOS receiver front ends provide a noise figure of 3 db, a higher selectivity, lower linearity, and poorer reradiation rejection than present vacuum tube front ends. Sensitivity of the AN/ARR-52 receiver cannot be improved until the first mixer reflected noise is reduced. (Author)
