Pulmonary Alveolar Epithelial Changes in Response to Freund's Adjuvant

Abstract

Observation of lungs of rabbits 3 weeks after intranvenous injection of complete Freund's adjuvant indicates that both alveolar cell types (granular pneumonocytes and membranous pneumonocytes) participate in the reaction of the lung to the adjuvant. The findings also suggest that these two cell types have a common origin and/or that transformation from one cell type to the other may occur.
