Polynitroaromatic Addition Compounds: A Comprehensive Literature Survey,

Abstract

The report reviews the literature concerning the addition compounds formed by the action of a variety of bases on di- and tri-nitrobenzene derivatives. The bases fall into three classes: (1) alkoxide, sulfite, thioethoxide, thiophenoxide, azide and bicarbonate ions; (2) carbanions derived from ketones, monoitroalkanes and malonic esters; (3) aliphatic amines. The topics include mode of formation, structural assignments, spectral properties and formation constants. (Author)
