Automatic Cartographic System (ACS) (Mod II). Volume I. Study and Investigation and User's Manual.

Abstract

The Automatic Cartographic System (ACS) (Mod II) comprises a set of computer programs for use at the Experimental Cartographic Facility at Rome Air Development Center (RADC). These programs process cartographic data in digital form to develop techniques of automated sympolization, editing, color separation, generalization, sectioning, and paneling. Section I of Volume I is the study and investigation behind the development of the Mod II system. It describes the mathematical techniques and algorithms that were developed and considered for expanding the earlier Mod I system. Section II of Volume I is the user's manual, containing the information necessary for operating the Mod II ACS. Volume II (AD-868 473) of the report is a 'Programmer's Manual' which documents the programming principles involved in this expansible system. (Author)
