Application of the Star Computer to Problems in the Numerical Calculation of Electromagnetic Fields.

Abstract

A brief description of the Control Data Corporation STAR computer is given. The main calculational parts of two running problems used in the study of electromagnetic radiation were coded in assembly language for the STAR. The codes were estimated to run approximately 50 times as fast as present day high speed computers. Comparisons are made between the STAR, conventional machines and the ILLIAC IV. (Author)
