Ground Water Utilization: Study of Methods, with Engineering Analysis.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide technical research and engineering evaluation in the development of a comprehensive report on methods deemed most suitable for exploiting ground water for military field operations. The study encumbers the following distinct phases: (1) library research, (2) contact with manufacturers, and (3) engineering evaluation of correlated material. The report, after defining the scope and the methodology of the study, reviews the conventional well drilling methods and equipment. It assesses new concepts, improvements, and other drilling methods not used at present time by water well industry but judged worthwhile for the Army's considerations, evaluates the compact mobile rigs commercially available, and screens the novel drilling techniques for their future potential. Recommendations, selected bibliography, and glossary augment the report. (Author)
