Image Definition Device.

Abstract

An image definition device for the stereo-viewing of photographic transparencies was designed and constructed. This instrument utilizes both light-table and condenser illumination interchangeably. As a result of effects associated with the scattering properties of photographic grains, the use of condenser illumination provides significantly higher viewing contrast. In designing the condenser, the effects of partial coherence, flare, and dark-field illumination were also considered. (Author)
