Low Cost Inertial Platform Fabrication Program.

Abstract

A requirement exists for a low-cost, midcourse inertial guidance system for application in air-to-surface tactical missiles. A unique, low-cost, gimballed inertial guidance platform intended to satisfy objectives for such a system has been developed. The approach pursued was to develop new techniques and low-cost hardware directly for these medium accuracy applications, considering from the start techniques that readily adapt to mass production. The effort covered by this report concerns the fabrication and test of a prototype version of the low-cost platform. (Author)
