Characteristic Waveforms of Metallic Targets in the Presence of Background Signal.

Abstract

A four-frequency laboratory reflectivity system is used to obtain echo signal amplitude and phase data for metallic targets in the presence of an interfering or background signal. Measurements of scaled metallic targets and a structural representation of the ground environment at frequencies fo, 3fo, 5fo and 7fo in the 1 to 10 GHz band are used to simulate targets of interest at 30, 90, 150 and 210 MHz. From these data, waveforms characteristic of the metallic target in a ground environment with applications to target detection and discrimination are obtained. (Author)
