Lithium Battery Research.

Abstract

The report describes research with three metal halides, AgF, CuF2, and CdCl2, for possible incorporation into secondary batteries. Stable, conductive organic solvents were also sought for use in combination with electrolytes having the same anion as the metal halide. The experimental program included the study of the charge-discharge characteristics of the cathodes and of lithium anodes, separator properties, voltammetry of electrolytes, mass transport effects, and compatibility of cell components with electrolytes.
