Automated Mechanical Property Analysis.

Abstract

In the past, mechanical property data, read from the Instron load-time chart, were converted to usable form through manual calculations. This method is both cumbersome and time-consuming and has been a continual source of possible error since the accuracy of the results depended to a large extent upon the judgment of the person reducing the data. A computer program has been written and made operational that utilizes the output from an Instron-Wang incremental data recording system and reduces the mechanical property data to useful engineering form. The program extracts much more mechanical property data from an experimental series than can be done economically from the Instron chart by manual operations. (Author)
