Initial Production Test of Shop Equipment, Contact Maintenance.

Abstract

During the period 28 February 1969 to 10 February 1970, an initial production test of the Shop Equipment, Contact Maintenance, Truck mounted, was conducted at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Two different vehicles were tested. Testing of the first vehicle was suspended when it was determined to be unsuitable for test because of frame cross member cracks. A modified vehicle was tested, starting on 17 September 1969. With the exception of excessive clutch slippage, the radio interference suppression test, and the rail hump test, the Shop Equipment, Contact Maintenance, satisfactorily passed the specification requirement tests but not all USATECOM required tests. The low temperature test was generally satisfactory; however, the air compressor and 3/4-inch heavy-duty drill did not function at -25 F. (Author)
