Optical Spatial Filter Analysis.
Abstract
The study was conducted to determine the existing optimum optical spatial filter for automatic target recognition. Two different types of spatial filters (matched and inverse) using two unique fabrication methods (holographic and in-line) were tested as a function of target scale, orientation, contrast and obscuration. The performance values for each filter and fabrication method were analyzed. An optimum overall filter was selected and a preliminary analysis was conducted to determine the effects of continuous tone imagery on filter performance. (Author)
