Slotted Metallic RF Window Investigation.

Abstract

The design of slotted metallic radomes is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The theory of flat slotted metallic sheets is developed and used to design and analyze flat slotted metallic sheets with various metallic sheets and metal-to-slot ratios. Backing the metallic sheet with a dielectric sheet is also analyzed. Experimental testing of flat slotted metallic sheets to verify the theoretical calculations and determine the effects of slot shape, metal-to-slot ratio, dielectric thickness, and metal thickness is reported. The design and testing of a 24-inch diameter, slotted metallic hemispherical radome is discussed. (Author)
