Research and Analysis in Fluidic Control System Technology.

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to investigate the flow field around the port of secondary injection for thrust vector control through the use of a differential interferometer. Also, side forces were measured and compared with values calculated by a semi-theoretical method which was resulted from the flow field investigation, for various flow conditions. In parallel with the experimental study, numerical calculations of the flow field were made with Rusanov's method. The numerical results were in good agreement with the experimental data. A theoretical analysis of the unsteady flow about a solid cylinder falling through a viscous fluid contained in a vertical tube was performed so as to determine the locus of the falling cylinder under the influence of gravitational acceleration and to evaluate the time-dependent frictional resistance to the cylinder. The effort expended on research and analysis of a Thrust Producing Gyroscope has resulted in improving the understanding of the relationship among the factors involved in this device so as to determine the functional feasibility of the device in practice.
